How to Compare Pest Control Product Quotations: MOQ, Carton CBM and Landed Cost
Normalize specification, packaging, Incoterm, carton volume and destination charges before comparing pest control product prices.
What is the right way to compare pest control product quotations?
Compare quotations only after every supplier prices the same product specification, sellable pack, case quantity, inspection scope and Incoterm. Then calculate an estimated landed cost per saleable unit using carton volume, gross weight, freight and destination costs. A lower unit price is not necessarily the lower delivered cost.
Create one comparison sheet with a separate column for assumptions. Mark any item that is not confirmed, including packaging setup, barcode work, duty classification or freight validity. This makes cost risk visible before a purchase order is issued.
Which quotation fields must be normalized first?
| Field | Normalize this detail | Why it changes the result |
|---|---|---|
| Product | Model, material, size, color, components and performance checks | Similar-looking products may use different specifications |
| Sellable pack | Unit count, retail packaging, instructions and labels | Packaging changes both cost and freight volume |
| Order quantity | Saleable units and any model or color split | MOQ and setup cost may apply by variant |
| Export carton | Case pack, dimensions, gross weight and marks | These inputs drive freight and warehouse planning |
| Trade term | Named Incoterm and exact named place or port | Cost and risk allocation changes by rule and location |
| Quality scope | Approved sample, inspection tests and acceptance plan | A cheaper quote may exclude controls required by the buyer |
How should MOQ be compared across suppliers?
Separate the product MOQ from the customization MOQ. A supplier may support a standard-color order at one quantity but require more units for a custom color, printed retail box or model-specific component. Ask whether the MOQ applies per model, color, artwork version or total order.
Also identify one-time costs such as tooling, printing plates, color matching, artwork setup, testing or sample freight. Allocate these costs across the first order without treating them as part of the repeat-order unit price.
| Requirement | Question to ask | Record in comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Standard product | What is the MOQ for the catalogue color and standard pack? | Units and case quantity |
| Custom product color | Is the MOQ per color or combined across the order? | Color split and matching fee |
| Printed retail pack | What is the printer MOQ for each artwork version? | Excess packaging quantity and storage plan |
| Barcode or FNSKU label | Can labels vary by SKU inside one order? | Application cost and SKU map |
| Mixed container | Can models share shipment space without sharing MOQ? | Model-level MOQ and loading plan |
How do carton CBM and gross weight affect the comparison?
Carton CBM equals outer length x width x height in metres. A carton measuring 0.60 x 0.40 x 0.35 m is 0.084 m3. At 120 cartons, the shipment volume is 10.08 m3. Divide the freight estimate by the number of saleable units to compare freight per unit.
Use gross weight as well as volume. Weighted bait stations, metal traps and compact snap traps can produce very different freight profiles. Final production packing data is more reliable than a catalogue estimate, especially after retail boxes, pavers or accessories are added.
What belongs in an estimated landed cost?
A practical unit estimate is: goods plus product and packaging setup, inspection, origin charges, freight, insurance, destination charges, estimated duty, taxes and applicable customs fees, divided by saleable units received. Add a clearly labeled allowance for uncertain costs instead of hiding them in the goods price.
Incoterms define selected buyer and seller obligations, costs and risks, but they do not set the product price or customs classification. Use the full rule name and named place, such as FOB a named port or DDP a named destination, rather than writing only FOB or DDP.
| Cost group | Examples | Owner of final figure |
|---|---|---|
| Goods and setup | Products, retail packing, labels, tooling and print setup | Buyer and supplier quotation |
| Origin and quality | Inspection, export handling and origin documentation | Supplier, inspector and forwarder |
| Main transport | Ocean, air, rail or courier freight and insurance | Forwarder or carrier |
| Import | Duty, tax, customs fees and broker charges | Importer and customs broker |
| Destination | Port, terminal, delivery, pallet and warehouse receiving | Forwarder and destination warehouse |
Which numbers must be confirmed before placing the order?
- Final model specification and approved sample reference
- MOQ by model, color, pack and artwork version
- Saleable-unit count and units per export carton
- Production carton dimensions and gross weight
- Incoterm with named port, place or destination
- Quotation validity, production lead time and payment terms
- Estimated tariff classification confirmed by the importer or broker
- Inspection, shipment and destination costs shown outside the goods price

A compact snap trap and a weighted rat bait station should not be compared with the same freight assumption. Request model-specific case pack, dimensions and gross weight.
Frequently asked questions
What does MOQ mean on a pest control product quotation?
MOQ is the minimum order quantity, but it may apply separately to a model, color, retail pack or artwork version. Ask the supplier to state the basis beside the number.
How do I calculate carton CBM?
Multiply the outer carton length, width and height in metres. Then multiply by carton count for shipment volume. Use final packed dimensions, not only product dimensions.
Does DDP always give the lowest landed cost?
No. DDP can make budgeting simpler, but the price depends on route, importer arrangement, destination and included services. Compare the exact scope and named destination with other quotations.
Can Baikang provide packing and shipment data with a quotation?
Baikang can provide available model specifications, MOQ, customization scope, case quantity, carton data, lead-time reference and trade-term options, then coordinate labels, inspection and logistics for the approved order.
