Rodent bait stations
Rodent Bait Station Selection: Size, Access and Placement Questions
Evaluate target species, placement conditions, access control, anchoring and service needs before ordering stations.
A station is part of the risk-control system
A bait station helps limit access to its contents, but the correct product depends on where it will be used and who or what could reach it. The pesticide label remains the controlling instruction. Never assume that a station makes any bait suitable for every location.
Questions for product selection
- Is the target a mouse or rat, and does the entrance size match that species?
- Will the station be used indoors, outdoors or in a protected exterior area?
- Does the location require resistance to children, dogs, weather or anchoring movement?
- How is the lid opened, and can service staff inspect and clean it efficiently?
- What bait block, tray or trap configuration must fit inside?
- Is there adequate label space for the destination market and service record?
Use and servicing
Place stations only as permitted by the rodenticide label and inspect them at the required interval. Keep records in commercial programs, replace damaged stations and dispose of bait, packaging and carcasses according to the label and local requirements.
