Powder Duster Safety Guide for Crack-and-Crevice Applications
A cautious checklist for selecting, filling, applying and cleaning a hand-operated pesticide powder duster.
The pesticide label controls the job
A duster is an application tool, not permission to use a pesticide in any location. Confirm that the product label allows dust application to the target pest and site. Follow label directions for personal protective equipment, application rate, occupied areas and cleanup.
Tool and site checklist
- Inspect the reservoir, cap, hose and extension for damage or blockage.
- Use a dry tool and avoid overfilling so air space remains for controlled output.
- Keep food, utensils, toys, pets and unprotected people away from the work area.
- Apply only to label-approved voids, cracks or crevices; visible piles can be moved or contacted.
- Do not mix residues from different products inside an uncleaned reservoir.
After application
Close and store the pesticide in its original labelled container. Clean or service the applicator as directed without creating airborne dust or contaminating drains. Record the product used and location in commercial programs. If the label or local requirement is unclear, stop and consult a licensed pest management professional.
